Predictions Ignored.... HB!

What if a bizarre and catastrophic twist of fate turns the world upside down
literally? Cyd Webster’s new novel
HB inspires discussion and evaluation of the
possibility of such a future.

The heroine of the story, Annelle Carter, takes the helm in working toward
answering the issue of diminishing populations of men in the world. There are
many twists and turns as controversies ensue as a result of her creation.
Suspicions arise as the androids become more real and abundant. Conflict is
displayed among many who can empathize, yet feel it is a sacrilege to go in the
direction she is heading in her endeavor.

A close reading of the Bible reveals that many numbers are used in certain patterns, suggesting that they have a special significance. Biblical numerology has become a small specialty within the field of biblical studies. Experts in biblical numerology have identified particular numbers with specific meanings. One such number that appears throughout both the Old and New Testaments is the number 12.

  1. Significance

    • According to many biblical scholars, the number 12 signifies governmental perfection. It appears as a multiple in matters related to issues of governance or ruling.

    Old Testament

    • The Book of Genesis reveals that there were 12 sons of Jacob. The 12 sons formed the 12 tribes of Israel.

    New Testament

    • In the New Testament, Jesus had 12 Apostles, who were his closest followers.

    The Kingdom of God

    • The number 12 appears throughout the Revelation, the final book of the Bible. According to Revelation, the kingdom of God has 12 gates guarded by 12 angels.

    The Sealed

    • The number of the sealed, according to Chapter 7 of Revelation, was 144,000, which is 12,000 from each of the 12 tribes of Israel.

    Expert Insight

    • Some biblical scholars point out that the number 12 is the product of 3 (the divine number) and 4 (the earthly number, as there are four elements: earth, air, fire, and water).

More mundane info I'm sure you're dying to know about... (email i received :)

Q: Why do men's clothes have buttons on the right while women's clothes have buttons on the left?
A: When buttons were invented, they were very expensive and worn primarily by the rich. Since most people are right-handed, it is easier to push buttons on the right through holes on the left. Because wealthy women were dressed by maids, dressmakers put the buttons on the maid's right! And that's where women's buttons have remained since.

Q: Why do ships and aircraft use 'mayday' as their call for help?
A: This comes from the French word m'aidez - meaning 'help me' -- and is pronounced, approximately, 'mayday.'

Q: Why are zero scores in tennis called 'love'?
A: In France, where tennis became popular, round zero on the scoreboard looked like an egg and was called 'l'oeuf,' which is French for 'egg.' When tennis was introduced in the US, Americans (mis)pronounced it 'love.'

Q. Why do X's at the end of a letter signify kisses?
A: In the Middle Ages, when many people were unable to read or write, documents were often signed using an X. Kissing the X represented an oath to fulfill obligations specified in the document. The X and the kiss eventually became synonymous.

Q: Why is shifting responsibility to someone else called 'passing the buck'?
A: In card games, it was once customary to pass an item, called a buck, from player to player to indicate whose turn it was to deal. If a player did not wish to assume the responsibility of dealing,he would 'pass the buck' to the next player.

Q: Why do people clink their glasses before drinking a toast?
A: It used to be common for someone to try to kill an enemy by offering him a poisoned drink. To prove to a guest that a drink was safe, it became customary for a guest to pour a small amount of his drink into the glass of the host. Both men would drink it simultaneously. When a guest trusted his host, he would only touch or clink the host's glass with his own.
Q: Why are people in the public eye said to be 'in the limelight'?
A: Invented in 1825, limelight was used in lighthouses and theatres by burning a cylinder of lime which produced a brilliant light. In the theatre, a performer 'in the limelight' was the centre of attention.
Q: Why is someone who is feeling great 'on cloud nine'?
A: Types of clouds are numbered according to the altitudes they attain, with nine being the highest cloud. If someone is said to be on cloud nine, that person is floating well above worldly cares.

Q: In golf, where did the term 'Caddie' come from?
A. When Mary Queen of Scots went to France as a young girl, Louis, King of France, learned that she loved the Scots game 'golf.' So he had the first course outside of Scotland built for her enjoyment. To make sure she was properly chaperoned (and guarded) while she played, Louis hired cadets from a military school to accompany her. Mary liked this a lot and when returned to Scotland (not a very good idea in the long run), she took the practice with her. In French, the word cadet is pronounced 'ca-day' and the Scots changed it into 'caddie'.
Q: Why are many coin banks shaped like pigs?
A: Long ago, dishes and cookware in Europe were made of a dense orange clay called 'pygg'. When people saved coins in jars made of this clay, the jars became known as 'pygg banks.' When an English potter misunderstood the word, he made a container that resembled a pig. And it caught on.

Q: Did you ever wonder why dimes, quarters and half dollars have notches (milling), while pennies and nickels do not?
A: The US Mint began putting notches on the edges of coins containing gold and silver to discourage holders from shaving off small quantities of the precious metals. Dimes, quarters and half dollars are notched because they used to contain silver. Pennies and nickels aren't notched because the metals they contain are not valuable enough to shave.

So there ! Now you know !

Girls Night Out To Dinner

Girls Night Out To Dinner

A group of 15-year-old girlfriends discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally, it was agreed they should meet at the Dairy Queen next to the Ocean View

restaurant because they only had $6.00 between them, and Jimmy Johnson, that cute boy in Social Studies, lives on that street and they might see him, plus, they can ride their bikes there.

10 years later, the group of 25-year-old girlfriends discussed where they should meet for dinner. Finally, it was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the beer was cheap, they had free snacks, the band was good, there was no cover and there were lots of cute guys.

10 years later, at 35, the group once again discussed where they should meet for dinner. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the Cosmos were good, it was right near the gym, and if they went late enough, there wouldn't be too many whiny little kids around.

10 years later, at 45, the group discussed where they should meet. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the Martinis were big, and the waiters wore tight pants.

10 years later, at 55, the group discussed where they should meet. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because the food there was reasonable, the wine list was good, they had windows that opened in case of a hot flash, and fish is good for your cholesterol.

10 years later, at 65, the group discussed where they should meet. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because lighting was good and they have early bird specials.

10 years later, at 75, the group discussed where they should meet. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because food was not too spicy, the restaurant was handicapped accessible, and they even had an elevator.

10 years later, at 85, the group discussed where they should meet. It was agreed they should meet at the Ocean View restaurant because they had never been there before.

Senator has the nerve to call seniors greedy!

THIS SENIOR CITIZEN NAILED IT...

Alan Simpson, Senator from Wyoming, Co-Chair of Obama's deficit commission, calls senior citizens the Greediest Generation as he compared "Social Security" to a Milk Cow with 310 million teats.
August, 2010.

Here's a response in a letter from a unknown fellow in Montana...
I think he is a little ticked off! He also tells it like it is !

"Hey Alan, let's get a few things straight..

1. As a career politician, you have been on the public dole for FIFTY YEARS.

2. I have been paying Social Security taxes for 48 YEARS (since I was 15 years old. I am now 63).

3 My Social Security pa yments, and those of millions of other Americans, were safely tucked away in an interest bearing account for decades until you political pukes decided to raid the account and give OUR money to a bunch of zero ambition losers in return for votes, thus
bankrupting the system and turning Social Security into a Ponzi scheme that would have made Bernie Madoff proud.

4. Recently, just like Lucy & Charlie Brown, you and your ilk pulled the proverbial football away from millions of American seniors nearing retirement and moved the goalposts for full retirement from age 65 to age 67. NOW, you and your shill commission is proposing to move the goalposts YET AGAIN.

5 I, and millions of other Americans, have been paying into Medicare from Day One, and now you morons propose to change the rules of the game. Why? Because you idiots mismanaged other parts of the economy to such an extent that you need to steal money from Medicare to pay the bills.

6. I, and mill ions of other Americans, have been paying income taxes our entire lives, and now you propose to increase our taxes yet again. Why?
Because you incompetent bastards spent our money so profligately that you just kept on spending even after you ran out of money. Now, you come to the American taxpayers and say you need more to pay off YOUR debt.

To add insult to injury, you label us "greedy" for calling "bullshit" on your incompetence. Well, Captain Bullshit, I have a few questions for YOU.

1. How much money have you earned from the American taxpayers during your pathetic 50-year political career?

2. At what age did you retire from your pathetic political career, and how much are you receiving in annual retirement benefits from the American taxpayers?

3.. How much do you pay for YOUR government provided health insurance?

4. What cuts in YOUR retirement and healthcare benefits are you proposing in your disgusting deficit reduction proposal, o r, as usual, have you exempted yourself and your political cronies?

It is you, Captain Bullshit, and your political co-conspirators called Congress who are the "greedy" ones. It is you and your fellow nutcases who have bankrupted America and stolen the American dream from millions of loyal, patriotic taxpayers. And for what? Votes.
That's right, sir. You and yours have bankrupted America for the sole purpose of advancing your pathetic political careers. You know it, we know it, and you know that we know it.
And you can take that to the bank, you miserable son of a bitch.

If you like the way things are in America, delete this. If you agree with what a fellow Montana citizen says, PASS IT ON!!!!

This would change everything and should be retroactive!

No one has been able to explain why young men and women serve in the U.S. Military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting freedom, and o nly get 50% of their pay. While politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full pay retirement after serving one term. It just does not make any sense.

On Fox news they learned that the staffers of Congress family members are exempt from having to pay back student loans. This will get national attention if other news networks will broadcast it. When you add this to the below, just where will all of it stop?

35 States filed lawsuits against the Federal Government.
Governors of 35 states have filed suit against the Federal Government for imposing unlawful burdens upon them. It only takes 38 (of the 50) States to convene a Constitutional Convention.

This will take less than thirty seconds to read. If you agree, please pass it on.

This is an idea that we should address.

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens had no idea that members of Congress could retire with the same pay after only one term, that they specifically exempted themselves from many of the laws they have passed (such as being exempt from any fear of prosecution for sexual harassment) while ordinary citizens must live under those laws. The latest is to exempt themselves from the Health care Reform... in all of its forms. Somehow, that doesn't seem logical. We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don't care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever. The self-serving must stop.

If each person that receives this will forward it on to 20 people, in three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message.. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
"Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives in Congress;
He sure as hell did. Very few Americans know how cozy it is to be a member of congress and all the perks they give themselves that they keep from you, like a paycheck for life, free medical care and many others after serving one term. Read it and weep, then next election do something about it.

Jumping On the Bed....... (LOL)

Jumping On the Bed....... Gotta love women~

A fifty-ish woman was at home happily jumping on her bed and squealing with delight.

Her husband watches her for a while and asks, "Do you have any idea how ridiculous you look?,

What's the matter with you?"

The woman continues to bounce on the bed and says, "I don't care, I just came from having a

mammogram and the doctor says I have the breasts of an 18 year-old".
The husband said, "What did he say about your 60 year old ass?"

"Your name never came up," she replied.

(Men . . . They just never know when to shut up, do they?)

When someone askes to borrow money...

Do you feel that they intend to pay you back when they don't mention that part?

It just kills me when folks come with the sob story about borrowing money, but leave out any words that would give any indication that they intend to repay you.

I had a cousin send an email once asking to borrow money, and he actually said he would not be able to repay it. At least he was honest, but I think that was probably the worst way to ask for money. He would have done better by saying that he had no idea when he'd be able to repay.... contingent on a job or something....

I've helped folks out here and there... Sometimes never being repaid. I never loan money that would put my personal finance in jeopardy. I wish this economy would get better. I get tired of folks 'hittin' me up'.... I don't have it! I have bills to pay too! I am not debt free, and thank God, I still have a job.

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine.. .

To my friends who enjoy a glass of wine.. .
And those who don't and are always
Seen with a bottle of water in their hand.
As Ben Franklin said:
In wine there is wisdom,
In beer there is freedom,
In water there is bacteria.
In a number of carefully controlled trials,
Scientists have demonstrated that if we drink
1 litre of water each day,
At the end of the year we would have absorbed
More than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli , (E.. Coli) p bacteria found in feces.
In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.
However,
We do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer
(or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor)
Because alcohol has to go through a purification process
Of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

Remember:
Water = Poop,
Wine = Health .
Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid,
Than to drink water and be full of shit.

MEN IN HEAVEN

MEN IN HEAVEN

When everybody on earth was dead and waiting to enter Paradise , God appeared and said,

"I want the men to make two lines.

One line for the men who were true heads of their household, and the other line for the men who were dominated by their women.

I want all the women to report to St. Peter."

Soon, the women were gone, and there were two lines of men.

The line of the men who were dominated by their wives was 100 miles long, and in the line of men who truly were heads of their household, there was only one man.

God said to the long line,

"You men should be ashamed of yourselves, I created you to be the head of your household!

You have been disobedient and have not fulfilled your purpose!

Of all of you, only one obeyed. Learn from him."

God turned to the one man,

"How did you manage to be the only one in this line?"

The man replied,

"My wife told me to stand here."

Heartbeats

"I believe every human has a finite number of heartbeats. I don't intend to waste any of mine." - Neil Armstrong (posted by BLACKNJ)

When I read this motivational quote this morning, I thought about how many heartbeats are wasted due to stress. I plan to actively not waste any of my heartbeats worrying, participating in negativity, being around toxic people. I want to honor the blessings and favor bestowed upon me, by living well :)

Have a WONDERFUL day everyone!

Happiness is a choice!

Entitlements my A#@@!

(email I received)

Subject: Entitlements my A#@@!

Entitlements my A#@@, I paid cash for my Social Security Insurance! Just because they borrowed my money, doesn't make my benefits some kind of charity or handout! Congressional benefits like free health care, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days: now that's welfare; and they have the nerve to call my retirement entitlements!

Someone please tell me what the Hell is wrong with all the people that run this country!

We're broke and can't help our Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.?

In recent months we have provided aid to Haiti , Chile, Pakistan...home to bin Laden...literally BILLIONS of DOLLARS!

Our retired seniors living on a fixed incomes receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government gives Hundreds of Billions to Foreign Countries!

They call Social Security and Medicare entitlements even though most of us have been paying for them all our working lives. And now, when its time for us to collect, the Government is running out of money. Why did the Government borrow from our Social Security in the first place?

We have many adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without needed medication, mentally ill going without treatment, etc.

Imagine if our Government gave us the same support they give the people who hate us.

Sad, isn't it?

The Green Thing

(Sharing... Thanks Tia!
We might find ourselves back to these practices as our economy continues to devolve...)

THE GREEN THING

In the line at the store, the cashier told an older woman that she should bring her own grocery bags because plastic bags weren't good for the environment.

The woman apologized to her and explained, "We didn't have the green thing back in my day."

The clerk responded, "That's our problem today. Your generation did not care enough to save our environment."

She was right -- our generation didn't have the green thing in its day.

Back then, we returned milk bottles, soda bottles and beer bottles to the store. The store sent them back to the plant to be washed and sterilized and refilled, so it could use the same bottles over and over. So they really were recycled.

But we didn't have the green thing back in our day.

We walked up stairs, because we didn't have an escalator in every store and office building. We walked to the grocery store and didn't climb into a 300-horsepower machine every time we had to go two blocks.

But she was right. We didn't have the green thing in our day.

Back then, we washed the baby's diapers because we didn't have the throw-away kind. We dried clothes on a line, not in an energy gobbling machine burning up 220 volts -- wind and solar power really did dry the clothes. Kids got hand-me-down clothes from their brothers or sisters, not always brand-new clothing. But that old lady is right; we didn't have the green thing back in our day.

Back then, we had one TV, or radio, in the house -- not a TV in every room. And the TV had a small screen the size of a handkerchief (remember them?), not a screen the size of the state of Montana.

In the kitchen, we blended and stirred by hand because we didn't have electric machines to do everything for us.

When we packaged a fragile item to send in the mail, we used a wadded up old newspaper to cushion it, not Styrofoam or plastic bubble wrap.

Back then, we didn't fire up an engine and burn gasoline just to cut the lawn. We used a push mower that ran on human power. We exercised by working so we didn't need to go to a health club to run on treadmills that operate on electricity. But she's right; we didn't have the green thing back then.

We drank from a fountain when we were thirsty instead of using a cup or a plastic bottle every time we had a drink of water.

We refilled writing pens with ink instead of buying a new pen, and we replaced the razor blades in a razor instead of throwing away the whole razor just because the blade got dull.

But we didn't have the green thing back then.

Back then, people took the streetcar or a bus and kids rode their bikes to school or walked instead of turning their moms into a 24-hour taxi service.

We had one electrical outlet in a room, not an entire bank of sockets to power a dozen appliances. And we didn't need a computerized gadget to receive a signal beamed from satellites 2,000 miles out in space in order to find the nearest pizza joint.

But isn't it sad the current generation laments how wasteful we old folks were just because we didn't have the green thing back then?

A raging storm...

A raging storm, impending doom...
A setting sun yet feeling gloom

Nerves are tingling, yet not knowing why,
Can't help but notice the eerie sky...

.... it's the 'Box Office' :)

(Sharing a couple of anecdotes sent to me today :)

While the C-5 was turning over its engines, a female crewman gave the G.I.s on board the usual
information regarding seat belts, emergency exits, etc.

Finally, she said, 'Now sit back and enjoy your trip while your captain, Judith Campbell, and crew
take you safely to Afghanistan '

An old Master Sergeant sitting in the eighth row thought to himself,
'Did I hear her right? Is the captain a woman? '

When the attendant came by he said 'Did I understand you right? Is the captain a woman?'
'Yes,'! said the attendant, 'In fact, this entire crew is female.'

'My God,' he said, 'I wish I had two double scotch and sodas. I don't know what to think
with only women up there in the cockpit.'

That's another thing, Sergeant,' said the crew member,
We No Longer Call It The Cockpit'
It's The Box Office.'

Quote of the day:
'Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, sh e'll give you her heart.
She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So, if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of sh*t.'

Can we fire the TV news media?

Kudos to Sen. Israel who tried to force NBC news anchor Ann Curry to talk about relevant issues e.g. the GOP slashing of the WIC program. However.... she was relentless in bringing the discussion right on back to Weiner... Sorry NBC, TMZ still got you beat... you're still not the better tabloid that you aspire to be.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

(Email I received yesterday... I've seen this before, but its a good idea to ponder. I like term limit C, for starters.)

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. Term Limits. 12 years only, one of the possible options below..

A. Two Six-year Senate terms

B. Six Two-year House terms

C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms

2. No Tenure / No Pension.

Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective the day this becomes law.

The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

Jury Duty Scam

I don't pass these kinds of things around much... but this one for some reason... makes me feel like it needs to be shared. Its a good reminder to be careful and do not give out personal information over the phone when receiving unsolicited calls.

Subject: Jury Duty Scam
To:

Jury Duty Scam

This has been verified by the FBI (their link is also included below). Please pass this on to everyone in your email address book. It is spreading fast so be prepared should you get this call. Most of us take those summonses for jury duty seriously, but enough people skip out on their civic duty, that a new and ominous kind of fraud has surfaced.

The caller claims to be a jury coordinator. If you protest that you never received a summons for jury duty, the scammer asks you for your Social Security number and date of birth so he or she can verify the information and cancel the arrest warrant. Give out any of this information and bingo; your identity was just stolen.

The fraud has been reported so far in 11 states, including Oklahoma, Illinois and Colorado. This (swindle) is particularly insidious because they use intimidation over the phone to try to bully people into giving information by pretending they are with the court system. The FBI and the federal court system have issued nationwide alerts on their web sites, warning consumers about the fraud.

Check it out here:

News is so tabloid!

What cracks me up is how the TV media is working so hard to make this Twitter/Weiner thing a big deal. I mean, aren't there more important things to talk about? Like the fact that so many folks are still unemployed and/or have no health insurance? How about focusing on corruption that keeps our taxes so high, or getting our people out of these foreign wars. UGH!
